How to hook up 12 speakers on 1 4 channel amp?
Ok a buddy has 12 new memphis speakers (not subs) and a new 4 channel memphis amp (50x4). I think he has 4 6x9's , 2 6 &1/2's, 4 4 &1/2's, and 2 tweeters. Now I have hooked up 4 speakers many times but sure how to wire this correctly and what channels to use for which speakers. He also has 3 way crossover. Can anyone give me detail on how to wire this? Specific details if possible. Thanks
You can do this only if you use the 3-way crossover. You can't wire tweeters in series with anything else because any crossover in series will affect every driver.
I would wire two 6x9's in parallel on each of the rear channels.
Use the 3-way crossovers on the front channels with the 6-1/2's on the woofer out, the 4" on the mid, and then the tweeters on the highs.
A 12db crossover will stabilize the impedance.
