What are the pros and cons of getting a gold plated ring in the long run?
My fiance is getting me an engagement ring and I dont really care if it real or not. I would prefer it to be a stimulated diamond and i loke gold but I dont no if the gold plating will eventually rub off or if theirs ways to prevent it.
If you ever develop a nickel allergy, chances are, you will no longer be able to wear your ring.
How long the plating holds up is really going to be determined by the quality of the ring. Although, regardless of how good it is, it won't hold up forever. To see what I'm talking about, check out the vintage, costume jewelry on eBay or at an antique shop. No matter how well preserved it is, it will rarely pass for the real thing. So if you wanted to one day leave your ring to your children as an heirloom, that might be a concern.
