Mixing Amplifier The best amplifier settings for a metal sound?
Can someone tell me what levels I should set these knobs to get a mean metal sound? (from 1-10) you don't need to answer all if you don't know.
Overdrive (probably most important):
Gain, Bass, Treble, Middle, Contour, Volume,
FX:
FX level, Reverb Level, Effects loop Mix, Preset Adjust
And overall Master Volume
Whoever answers the most of these gets the 10 points, or which ever Im most satisified with.
Crank the gain (8-10), Bass (8-ish), and Treble (probably 10). Turn the mids all the way down. If it's a tube amp, you'll probably get better results if you crank the volume too. Forget the reverb unless you're going for a 90's alterna-rock sound - it'll just make you sound muddy.
