Pre Amp
I have a condenser mic, a Tube pre-amp, and a pc. What is the exact process in hooking this up?
I have all the cables I need (i'm pretty sure), and also one more side note, when I plug the preamp into a power outlet no lights come on. Is this normal? or are the lights supposed to work once microphone activity is engaged? My pre amp is a Tube MP Project series and my mic is a MXL condenser
From the mic, you'll need an XLR to XLR cable to go into the preamp.
Condenser mics require phantom power, so make sure that this is turned on at the preamp. Then, whatever cable is needed to go from the output of the preamp to the Line In on your sound card.
I am concerned that you're not seeing any power activity on the preamp. The LED under the meter should be green when the unit is receiving power. You may have a defective power supply or preamp.
