Woofer Foam Can I cut foam out of my back seat to improve subwoofer loudness?
I have sub woofers in my trunk. My friend also has the same setup in the back of an SUV. His is much louder. I think the foam of my backseat is blocking the sound. Can I cut some foam out of the back seat without damaging the seat? (Do you think it will help any?) My back seats do not fold down. The sound also gets louder inside the car when I open my trunk.
I'm running 2x 12" infinity subwoofers. They are in their own box sitting in the trunk. (Bandpass box) Yes, friend and I both have the same subs / amp.
no, thats a really dumb idea. your going to end up either destroying your seat, or making it so uncomfortable you wont want to drive it.
let be logical. something isnt right with the woofers, so lets work on those, and not the rest of the car. first off, you said you and your friend have the same set up. i assume that means same amp, and subs. are the boxes the same? what about the wiring? are the subs in phase?
also it if he has a smaller SUV its going to be louder. reason being is his subs are moving a higher percentage of air inside the car.
if all else fails, you can always get better woofers. what are you running now?
