Digital Echo how do i correct "echo" when transferring 8mm digital tape to DVD using Sony DVD Direct?
That DVDirect is an awesome device! I've been using it lately to try it out and it has done well, but I too have noticed on some of the videos that the audio is not right.
My problems have been lip sync issues, not so much echo.
Here are a couple of suggestions (none I have tried, but they might work).
1. Make sure your cables are in good shape. If they have cuts or are cracked, there may be interference.
2. Use a different format disc (e.g. if you are using DVD+R, try DVD-R)
3. Some DVDs have faster write speed, such as 2x, 4x, 8x, etc. Try a faster or slower write speed.
4. Make sure that the heads are clean on the device you are playing the tapes from.
5. Set the recording quality on the DVDirect device to HQ which bumps up the overall quality level (and recording time).
Again, I haven't tied these solutions to remedy your type of problem, but I would experiment to see if they make a difference. It could be that the converter inside the DVDirect is causing the problem - if that is the case, there is nothing you can do then.
