What are the possibilitys for watch the paid channel from KU band Sattelite system.
I have a KU band LMB, Dish and receiver. I'm in Sri Lanka. In this system i can watch most of the Indian and Sri Lankan free channels. Now i need to know how is the receive BBC, ESPN, HBO etc,like paid channels. Is it possible or no.
There's a few questions here:
1. Are those channels broadcast to your location?
You can check www.lyngsat.com to find out what channels are broadcast everywhere in the world. It's not such an easy website to understand, but once you figure it out, it's very useful.
2. Do the broadcasters allow for individual subscribers?
To answer this, you'll have to check with the broadcaster. Sometimes there's a repackager that sells subscriptions to several channels, so you'll have to look at that possibility too. (Look under "packages" in Lyngsat.)
3. Do you have the right equipment?
Some channels are broadcast using DVB, which is probably what your receiver works with. For paid subscription services, you'll need a CAM module and perhaps a subscriber card to go with it, so your receiver will need a CI slot to accept the CAM.
Other channels are not broadcast in DVB and will require a different receiver, though mostly you can't subscribe to them anyway, but there are exceptions.
