The mechanism of dish network channels is not at all difficult to understand if you know some basic facts. The idea and conception is so simple as to come across as too naïve. But that's how satellite TV is. It's high on performance but uses a very simple model to achieve that. If you are a keen dish TV enthusiast, the workings of the direct satellite TV channels would make for an interesting observation. To understand things in a better perspective, let us follow the dish network signals from the time it's transmitted to the time it's picked up by a satellite TV receiver.
The dish network signals are transmitted by a broadcasting center. The signals, like light, travel in straight lines. The path of the TV signals cannot suffer too many obstructions. That was the problem with the broadcasting transmission which didn't use satellites. The curve of the earth made it difficult for the transmitted signals to reach to the other side of the globe. Satellite TV tackles that problem head-on. The broadcasting center emits the signals and this goes up to the geosynchronous satellites revolving in the Clark belt around the earth.
The dish network signals are picked up by these satellites. The satellites then revert the satellite TV signals back to the earth. A parabolic dish antenna picks up the TV signals at the receiving site, which can be your home. The received dish TV signals are concentrated on the feed horn. The feed horn is there to pick up the signals and is placed at a distance which is commensurate with the parabolic dish. The feed horn is attached to the satellite TV receiver with the help of coaxial cables. The receiver is the main player now on.
Dish network channels come in a bundle, so to speak. The satellite TV receiver decodes the received signals and makes them suitable for your TV to beam them. The individual channels are separated from the bundle and when you flick on your remote, you can watch only one dish TV channel on your TV screen. It's another matter that with the help of digital programming, you can watch multiple channels on your TV screen at the same time. The receiver also allows you to order and keep track of pay-per-view movies or other content that you may watch. The receiver is connected to an internal, automatic computer at the end of the service providers.
The simplicity of the dish network mechanism is heightened by the fact that there is no groundwork involved. Everything has got a dash of technology, making it the child of the future. If you have not joined hands yet, now is the time!
