Sound Pro
How do I make my Mbox 2 Mini play from sound sources outside of Pro Tools? (e.i. Windows Media, websites, ect.?
I have a Mbox 2 Mini hooked up to two monitors and they play the sounds coming from Pro Tools, but none of the other sound sources on my computer. I have been told that I can do this by making the Mbox 2 Mini the primary sound driver for my computer, but I do not know how to do this. Im running XP
Start>Settings>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>click on the Audio tab, change the default device to your Mbox, click OK.
Done
Enjoy!

The cello may look like a big violin but skill is required in order to produce the deep melodious sound which has made the cello one of the most popular music instruments to learn today. The cello like the violin is one of the harder instruments to master. Unlike the guitar however, the cello does not have frets which make finger placements easier. A good cellist needs to rely not only on sight but also hearing in order to produce the right notes and sounds.
Any music teacher will tell the student that mastery of any musical instrument depends on practice in between lessons. A half hour everyday is way better than trying to cram a whole week's worth of practice the day before the lesson. Which is why the adage "practice makes perfect" makes sense for cello players. Aside from practice, a good cello teacher is also needed in order to successfully master the cello. But why go for private cello lessons? What are it's advantages and why should I prefer one to a group class? Here are some reasons why individual cello lessons are way better than group lessons.
First of all, you get to pick the day, time and place to have your lessons. This means that you do not need to wait for the class to fill up before it starts or rearrange your schedule in order to accommodate a cello lesson. Private lessons usually entail the freedom to choose the time and day for the lessons. Plus, there are lots of cello teachers who can teach at your home. Imagine having cello lessons at the comfort of your own home! Isn't this better than having to travel all the way to a music school where you may encounter traffic, have to wait for your classmates to show up or wait for a previous class to end? Private cello lessons are more convenient and flexible so you need to worry about other details.
Another very good reason to sign up for private cello lesson is that you can request specific learning paths with your teacher. If you want more practical and less theory, then cello teachers can accommodate this request. If you prefer more contemporary music to classical then I am sure that this can easily be arranged. Since lessons are one to one then cello teachers are more than willing to make adjustments to cater to their student's wishes.
Perhaps the greatest advantage for private cello lessons is having the teacher all to yourself. Others might resent this but for serious cello players who dream of seeing their names in lights, then this investment will be worth every penny! Private cello lessons mean that you do not need to compete with other students for your cello teacher's attention. This way of training is very effective as the teacher can easily correct mistakes, break bad habits before they form and give specific directions and instructions which virtually guarantee that you can master the cello faster, more efficiently and easily.
There is nothing wrong in enrolling in a music school for group cello lessons. Indeed it is very cost effective and students can learn the cello this way too. But we hope that you consider these reasons before shelving this idea. An individualized, personalized and private cello lesson is an excellent way of nurturing your love for the cello and music too.
