Stereo Outdoor
Can I use a component stereo to power an outdoor paging system?
I work at a summer camp and we have been using an amplifier to power our paging system that is connected to our phones. It recently got burned out by lightning. I was wondering if it possible to use a component stereo to power the system.
Some background:
The paging wires were plugged into the 25v and COM ports on the amplifier.
We already have the phone running through an impedance transformer to an RCA jack. The problem is how to power the speakers.
No you can't.The old paging amp has inside an output step up transformer which increase the output line voltage to 25V.
An amp without this transformer will not be able to power the speakers!
