What is the correct way to arrange picture displays on a wall?
Could any of you interior decorators please tell me the correct way to place pictures on a wall that would be most pleasing to the eye. Also if the room you want to decorate has three walls available for decorations, would you place one picture on each wall or should a room only have one major picture? Thanks in advance!
there are a few rules for pictures;
should be hung at eye level, so for standing area is about 57" and for seating area lower, only a few inches above chair, or what you think eye level would be when you are seated, art is meant to be looked at and enjoyed.
you can have as many pictures as you want, but you should try to have relation between them, so maybe the frames are all similar or if the frames are all different then the colours or themes of the pictures should all be similar.
if you want to hang one picture on each wall as you mentioned I would suggest that these be quite large pictures especially if that is all that is on the wall.
or you might do one large on middle wall and groupings on either side wall, or vice versa. essentially you can do what you like, just be aware of balance and as I mentioned before a common theme.
I always lay my pictures in grouping on the floor and play around with it before i make a decision on how I am going to hang them.
