Acoustic Research Is there such a thing as an electric-acoustic guitar?
I ask because I have been doing some research on guitars out of interest and I was reading the wikipedia page on electric guitars. I found that under types there is the acoustic. Are'nt the acoustic and electric different types of guitars? Just thought I would see what people would say on here because things you read on wikipedia are not always true.
Electric guitars have electric pickups to convert the plucks of the string into electrical signals to go to an amp.
An acoustic can resonate the sound on it's own. You can get what's called an active or passive pickup for the acoustic guitar so it can be plugged into an amp.
