Can the Acoustic Research 3-way 2.5 GHz splitter be used for internet connection (cable modem)?
If yes, where the cable modem connection would be: top output, bottom left or bottom right?

I would have only cable mode, and 1 tv connected. One output won't be connected. Does that make any difference on signal loss?
Yes, it can but that is not the optimal way to do it. The right way to do is to run the cable from the outlet directly to the modem. Use the splitter on another outlet for your tv's. If that's not possible use only a 2 Way splitter. You will loose a lot of signal with a 3 way splitter and your cable modem may not work because it won't get enough signal. If you do use the 3 way, the cable modem should be connected to the output that has the lowest signal loss. Look at the 3 outputs and you will see something like +3.5 Db or something like that, pick one that has a lowest number. The number on the output will tell you how much loss you can have on that output. The "+" sign means signal loss and not signal gains.

When you are new to the world of music, making your choice at the instrument store can be very frustrating. There are many options you can choose from. Technical terms bring a lot of confusion to the lay person. There is a solution to the problem.
