Integrate Amplifier Audio amplifier based on TDA7294 on 4 ohm speaker?
I have an audio amplifier based on TDA7294 integrated circuit. It is set to drive a load of 8ohm (speakers). I have a 4ohm subwoofer. Can i connect the 4ohm woofer to it? I looked at the specs ( http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/SGSThomsonMicroelectronics/mXqwvzw.pdf ) and it says it can drive both 4ohm and 8ohm loads. The supply voltage must be set for 8ohms i guess. Will a 4ohm woofer work on this?

it should be fine without modification. the supply voltage does not need to change based on the output load. the distortion will go up a bit but it is frequency dependent and since this is a subwoofer it should not be detectable.
