Singalong Song how to explain christianity to my daughter without letting my own biases show?
We recently moved to a small town with a heavy christian element, where my daughter just started kindergarten - at the public library yesterday one of the singalong songs was "away in a manger"! I strongly disapprove of the church and bible, but she is beginning to encounter it, and will more - how do we explain their beliefs without making them seem stupid? or do we try to explain how and why they suspend logic so dramatically? she is only 5, smart as a tack, but still... it's a lot for anyone to ingest.
any suggestions or advice are most welcome, thank you
You could check out the Unitarian Universalist society church website. I'm pretty sure they have information on how to educate young children in the various religions without bias. If there is no UU church in the town, the website has a larger 'fellowship' that might help you. Explaining the basics to her of not only Christianity, but all Other religions will help her to form her own opinion when she is older.

You can explain it with the idea that the Old Testament and New Testament stories are just that, stories, myths that explained how things came to be, etc., for the ancient Hebrew tribes. Then go into the Greek, Roman, Norse, Celtic, Hindu and Buddhist myths and explain them also. Knowledge brings understanding and acceptance, and this is what you want to teach your child, I assume. She needs to understand about the Christian mythos if she is going to be happy where she is. Take it slow and easy, answer her questions. Tell her what You believe, but don't tell her what She has to believe.
