Pop Pop
Who else hates it when people say Pop, instead of Soda?
I live in Salem, OR. Almost everyone says pop. I was raised by a family full of Californians. Therefor, I say Soda. It annoys me so much when people say pop.
Pop is a genre of music. Or, for example: "I need to pop my zit". Pop is not Soda.
Where I grew up in upstate NY we called it soft drink to distinguish it from alcohol--the "hard" stuff. My fiance @ the time was from LI NY & he called it soda. It really bugged him I said soft drink & he nagged me until I gave in to him & said soda. I lived in several Southern states & they called everything either Pop (images of rednecks always came to mind) or Coke. I didn't mind Coke too much until I went on the Coca Cola plant tour in Atlanta & tasted the "Coke" flavors from different countries. It gave a whole new meaning to syrupy.

Whilst technologically processed and produced pieces of pop art canvas employ and utilise objects that are, in general, dominated by common and bright design patterns, all pop art pieces center on a central imagery – defying the elaborateness that Abstract Expressionism had been known for. Though many a number of critics would deduce that the primary reason of why pop art canvas can be classified and categorised under pop art as a distinguishable method and technique can be credited to the interplay of usage of color and even the preference of highly accessible and available popular technology. But how similar are pop art canvas to those pieces of art that are produced during the height of the formation and consolidation of the technique to which we refer as pop art?
Color as a Unifying Concept

Unlike Abstract Expressionism, pop art eliminates the elaborateness of the background in order to justify that an image is worthy to be called an art in itself. However, though considered to be universal, no standard and benchmark had been known to be adhered to in most works. Such fact primarily reflects the principle of relativism to which the pop art primarily had put emphasis on.
Pop art is an evolving art technique. Its ability to utilise and transform everyday, mundane objects into art pieces is the primary reason why pop art is here to stay. Though what is popular today could be the wreck of tomorrow, the ability of pop art to adapt to changes is the key why it would continuously survive and evolve over time.
The Idealism behind the Imagery
Whilst most art forms, pop art can be said to be a product of ideals rather than an effort to be made aurally and visually discernible. It can be said, further, that pop art and its ramifications, such as pop art canvas, had been visually distinguishable not primarily because most, if not all, of its artists had been formally taught to follow a pattern but because its uniqueness credits to be different.
The ideal of pop art is primarily to present to consumers the beauty of what they often neglect and overlook. Through utilising portraits and even significant pictures, pop art canvas can be said to have reduced the gap between the art known by the Abstract Expressionists and the beauty that we experience everyday. By elevating the classification of mundane things as an object worthy to be respected as art, luminaries of pop art present a proposition of valuing things that we often take for granted.
