Watt Wireless How to set up a wireless access point?
I want to set up a wireless access point, using:
- 1 linksys radio
- 1 bandpass channel filter
- 1 2watt power
- 1 antenna splitter(1->3)
- 3 external antenna(27db each)
i've tried above configuration but resulted in many errors (can't connect, unstable ping reply, etc)... my questions are:
1. what is the correct configuration?
2. what is the minimum distance and maximum distance if i use 2 watt power divided by 3 (27db) antenna? and how about the noise? because I can't connect to the AP if I use the power ampli, connect successfully if i don't use the power ampli...but the coverage area is very small
thanx for your answers....
Well,If you have no problem in configuring your wireless access point and your clients can recognize it`s SSID then you have a signal strength problem.
There are many factors affecting your wireless signals.Some of the most important ones are:Over usage of cell phones specially GSM ones.Fluorescent lights(Really affective),channel conflict(There might be a signal of another access point working near you,the default channel is 11 try to use another one).
You can change the working channel in your access point management console.
I suggest that you bring a laptop near your access point and test if the signal works fine,then do the above instructions except for changing the channel.
