Studio Monitors What is a good pair of studio monitors for my recording studio?
I need a good pair of studio monitors for my home recording studio with a price limit of around 300, can anyone help me out
At that price, Behringer B2030a. The Bigger B2031a is bass heavy and suited only to certain specific applications like RnB where the listener/consumer will have a bottom heavy system.
The B2030a has an extremely neutral sound for the price range, which is how a monitor should be. As a consequence it is not particularly involving and can be fatiguing to listen to after a while. That's OK. That's the way a monitor should be.
The fatigue is from the ear being exposed to so much detail.
The Yamaha NS10s are treble heavy.
They are not realistic and neutral.
The Alesis monitors are not at all neutral, although more enjoyable to listen to, but that is not what monitors are supposed to be all about.
Same with Tascam.
I would stick my neck out here though and say that if you can at all manage it, you should get Genelec. They are much more expensive, but a monitor is really only any good if it reveals all faults and that is expensive work.
The Behringer will not provide you with the resolution to create productions that sound flawless on genuine hi-fi equipment. They do not add their own color though.
The Genelec will. Of course if all your listeners are listening on consumer-grade gear only, they will do the job.
