Player Turntable vintage or turntable record player?
i dont know anything about record players, but i want to get one.
if i wanted a player that will last a long time and have good quality which should i get?
I have a Gerrard turntable circa 1962 (ish, it was my fathers) and it still works great. I use it with AR speakers.
Start at a local, reputable record store and see if you can find a local dealer. They can be hard to find, but most cities have a few shops that still specialize in turntables. Talk to someone in person and browse what they have. Sizes, speakers, proamps and needles will vary, you'll want to decide what will work best for you and your space and how frequently you plan on using it (daily, weekly, special occasions, etc).
I am biased, I love vintage models from the late 50s/early 60s, but your needs may be suited by a model from the 80s or even on of those "novelty" turntables they sell that look like old radios (Gasp! But some people like them...). Just be sure it is decent quality and won't ruin your vinyl, especially if they are classic records.
